How to Make a Donation to a Breast Cancer Charity for FREE

HERE ARE DETAILS OF A GREAT WEBSITE. WHERE EVERY TIME YOU CLICK A LINK THEY WILL DONATE MONEY TO A BREAST CANCER CHARITY.THERE IS A LINK TO THE SITE AT THE FOOT OF THE PAGE.

www.TheBreastCancerSite.com

The Breast Cancer Site was founded to help fund free mammograms for women in need – women for whom early detection would not otherwise be possible. Since its launch in October 2000, the site has established itself as a leader in online activism and in the fight to prevent breast cancer deaths.

The issue of breast cancer is painfully close to many people’s hearts. Each year, 211,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and 43,300 die. Almost everyone knows someone whose life has been affected by a breast cancer diagnosis or that of a loved one. The Breast Cancer Site provides a feel-good way to help promote awareness and prevent breast cancer deaths every day – through easy online activities.

With a simple daily click of the pink button at The Breast Cancer Site, visitors help provide mammograms to those in need. Visitors pay nothing. Mammograms are paid for by the site’s sponsors and distributed by the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.

Access to mammography is a critical issue. Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women ages 40 – 55. Early detection is the key to survival and better treatment options, and mammography is among the best-known methods of early detection, yet 13 million women in the U.S. over 40 have never had a mammogram.

In addition to clicking the pink “Click Here to Give – it’s FREE” button, visitors can make early detection and survival of breast cancer possible by shopping in The Breast Cancer Site store. With each item purchased, shoppers generate funds for free mammograms for women in need. The store offers a wide array of items to show your support, including pink ribbon jewelry and apparel.

About the Owners of The Breast Cancer Site

Long-time environmental activists Tim Kunin and Greg Hesterberg met at the University of Michigan while working on the Michigan Bottle Bill ballot campaign in 1976. As enthusiastic supporters of The Hunger Site, they realized the power of providing busy Internet users with a fast, free and easy way to make a difference and launched EcologyFund.com to give people the means to support wilderness preservation efforts worldwide. They are particularly excited about The Breast Cancer Site, as both are sons of breast cancer survivors.

Tim Kunin has traveled extensively to visit charity partners and purchase some of the fair-trade products available on our sites. He is convinced that providing a market for products made by rural women artisans is the best method of reducing inter-generational poverty. Travels have taken Tim to Canada, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Sweden, England, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Mozambique, South Africa, Israel, India, and Afghanistan. Tim has purchased unique products in each of these countries which can in turn be purchased from the web stores here.

Greg Hesterberg was chairman of two statewide consumer and environmental organizations (MaryPIRG and PIRGIM) while in college. After 20 years running a successful publishing firm, Greg delights in finding innovative ways to make the world a better place.

What kind of charity/community work can you do with kids in tow?

My kids are 7, 3 & 1 yr old. I want to integrate charity/community work into our everyday lives. What can I do that includes the little lambs?

You know your 1 yr old so you will need to think about his or her tolerance for being still or doing things and about unfamiliar places. Be sure you are able to adequately supervise the younger 2 especially, Some places may be very open to children and some less so. Things where you take food to people may be especially good if you have transportation available. The little ones can be part of it without being over stimulated and under too much strain.

Talk to your local food bank to find food pantries in your area that may need volunteers to help stock shelves or better yet to help deliver food to families or senior citizens in need. Find food bank through http://www.feedingamerica.org. Kids can put things on shelves or in bags as you hand them to them or go with you to deliver the food.

Volunteer to deliver for Meals on Wheels which takes food to elderly shut ins. Most will be delighted to see the children. You can do this daily, once a week, once a month, etc.

Talk to your own church or any community helping group about setting up a kids clothes exchange. Every child outgrows clothes so every child needs clothes and every child at some time is a source of hand me downs that can bless another child. For an example of this see http://caringhandsmin.tripod.com/id10.html Or see a community help list in your area at United Way or welfare to find a clothes help place where you can volunteer. Kids can help pick out things they have outgrown to share, help sort, fold, put on shelves, etc. This can be a one time thing or ongoing or once a month or once every so many months.

Help with or organize a drive to gather old blankets, pet food, etc for the local animal shelter especially a no kill shelter. The children can go with you and meet some of the animals. Some local petting zoos ad regular zoos also have similar needs. Or you may want to be a foster home for a dog or cat waiting to be adopted.

Operation Christmas Child https://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/OCC/EZ_Give_Donations/ pack a shoebox with gifts to delight a child in need. Your children can help pick out gifts and pack the box (or boxes)

There are a lot more but these and a list of helping places in your area will get you started thinking. You may also want to see http://www.volunteermatch.com
