What is a good, comprehensive book series on the general history of civilization?
I know this is a lot to ask, but I was just wondering what would be a good overall world history book series. Basically, I want a series that spans from somewhere near the beginning of ancient Mesopotamian civilization up to maybe the late 19th or early 20th centuries.
I have looked at series like The Story of Civilization by Will Durant and A Study of History by Arnold J. Toynbee, and I was looking for suggestions as to what book series resembling those kind would be the best?
H. G. Wells ( Time Machine, War of the Worlds ) wrote an excellent series on history.
