Surah 43:81-83

[81] Say: “If (Allah) Most Gracious had a son, I would be the first to worship.”

[82] Glory to the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of the Throne (of Authority)! (He is free) from the things they attribute (to Him)!

[83] So leave them to babble and play (with vanities) until they meet that Day of theirs, which they have been promised.

Surah 19:88- 95

Can I claim my disabled Son, who receives Medicaid and SSI, on my 2007 taxes without affecting his benefits?

My Son was declared permanently disabled for mental health reasons in 2007. My Son is 24 years old. He recently started receiving Medicaid and SSI in 2007. My son has lived with me since his illness began in 2006.

I did not claim my Son in 2006. I am hesitant about claiming my Son on my 2007 return for fear it may impact the much needed benefits he now receives.

What are my options?

of course you can claim him, as long as he lives with you and you support him. It wont affect his benifits at all.
