Sibak Al Khayla (horse racing) in Islam
Horse is an important and valuable member of mammals. Among the earliest evidence of the importance of the horse to human culture are the wall paintings discovered in the caves of Lascaux in southern France, dating from about 30,000 BC The first horse became useful for the well-being sometimes before 1500 BC when the people of Mesopotamia began to use horses to pull their chariots. There is however a question Canon has increased Taylor's Origin of the Aryans (p. 161), if the horse was first used for drawing carts or riding. He, and William Ridgeway (Academy of January 3, 1891) says, "At first, the horse was very weak and unable to exercise the rights and that is after generations of domestication of feeding conditions and reproductive care that the horse has become of sufficient size to carry the man on back with ease. "According to Max Muller, it is clear that the Vedas, India, it has been used for both tanks driving and riding.
The horse racing thoroughbreds, whose distance ancestor Eohippus, was a small hoofed quadruped of the size of a fox, is the most beautiful animal bred by man. Through a rigorous process of selection by trial races over two hundred and fifty years, a noble and courageous beast has been shaped in the hands of specialized farmers, from an original mix of importation of purebred Arabian, and this called Turkey or Barbary bulls, and English mares existing hybrids in Europe in the late 17th century.
The earliest dates for horse racing have not yet been confirmed. These contests, however, took place in Babylon, Syria and Egypt. Clay tablets taken Cappadocia in Asia Minor, written in 1400 BC show on the training of racehorses. The four horse chariot races were introduced in Olympics Greece in the 23rd Olympiad, or about 664 BC 33rd Olympiad that was the race to climb the horse was introduced about 624 BC and the first saddled horse race took place in the games of 564 BC
Horse racing is derived from the war chariot racing, and hunting, and it is not without significance that at the time of the Roman occupation of Great Britain, Queen Boudica and her people, the Iceni tribe, lived on Newmarket Heath, and that parts of their gold and silver were stamped on the side opposite to the effigy of a horse. The first horse racing in England of which a record is always held in Netherby in Yorkshire in about AD 210 between Arabian horses brought to Europe by the Roman emperor Septimius Severus Alexander, who has made special arrangements for housing and training of these horses difficult. Under the reign of King Richard I, horse racing became a hobby fashion for the barons and knights. It was not until the reign of King Henry VIII as the first race course was officially established on the Roodee to Chester in 1540, and an annual prize first action, which took the form of a silver bell, and besides that monarch did much to improve Royal poles and race horses in general throughout the country.
Arabia is considered the oldest purebred, but its exact origin remains to be shown for lack of scientific evidence. antique sculpture and ancient cave drawings of horses apparently Arab in the Arabian Peninsula, and the wall inscriptions in Egypt, confirmed that a type existed in the Arab Middle East for over 3000 years. The Eastern or Eastern, horses are considered as the stock pivot of all horses hot-blooded South versus the North in cold blood.
As an old pure-bred Arabian is extremely prepotent, and for centuries have been used in quality, with the result that there is only one breed of light horse that does not some Arab blood – the most outstanding race to evolve from sources in Saudi is the thoroughbred. The foundation stock was a mixture of mares and standards of the East, and Gallowavs and other horses Colombia. Three stallions, the Darley Arabian phenomenal, Godolphin Arabian and the Byerley Turk – dominated having pure, and all traces of thoroughbreds in the male line to just these three.
Initially most of the Arabs were nomads. With a climate of extremes, lack of food, and hard work expected of horses, he was a team of survival of the fittest. At the time the tribes were constantly warfare or raids were frequent, invoked Arab speed and endurance of his horse for its very survival. Mares were used for raids against the enemy, as standards could not be relied on to stay quiet, and the Arab mare has become a most valuable asset of the owner.
When fighting the horseman carrying a spear (which, in some northern tribes could be as much as 6 meters long) and the mare had to be very agile, able to stop dead in its wake, a spin on his knee, and Dart again. The mares were kept tethered to the Bedouin camps and sometimes shared tent with their master. Centuries of living in close proximity with humans gave to Saudi with a unique ability to form a strong friendship with people. It is likely that there were no horses in Arabia before the Christian era, and they are the direct descendants of wild horses Libya in North Africa, which was domesticated in Egypt. Ridgeway States kings of Egypt these horses in 1500 BC, and they probably came from Arabia to Palestine through between the 1st and 6th centuries.
According to the Encyclopedia Americana (14:391), "The horses start to appear in Arabia in the first century BC, and by the time of (Prophet) Muhammad is a separate and unique type of Arabian horse has evolved. "The Prophet was used for horses with great success in the holy wars. They proved faster and more maneuverable than the camels. The prophet who ordered that the horses must be cared for by the faithful so they are better prepared to gallop on the faith and the spread of Islam. The order of the Prophet, recorded in the Quran means that the breeding of horses began to spread among the Bedouins and the Arab race began true. Historian Ibn Khallikan (3:476) writes that "We know that in the cavalry 12,000 Berber who landed in Spain under the command of Tariq bin Zihad, it There were twelve Arabian horses. Hence the Arab horses introduced to the West. "Thus, Arabic became the home of Derby, England.
The Arabic word common the horse is Faras, if standard (Fahl) or mare, as a collective al-Khayla. The Khayla word for horse is five times in the Koran. The title and first verse of Sura 79 (Those that capture, al-naziat) and Sura 100 (runners, al-adiyat) are probably other references to horses. The title of Surah 37 (Those who Dress ranks, al-saffat), Surah 51 (Those who Scatter, Al-Dháriyát) and Sura 77 (Those Sent Al-Mursalát) may also refer to them as well.
According to the Quran: "By adiyat running breathless, and those fires that hit dashing" (100:1-2). Most commentators suggest that the meaning of adiyat panting horses on the authority of Ibn Abbas.
"(He created) horses and mules and donkeys for you to rise and as Zinat "(16:8). The Arabic word zina means Zinat or ornament, amusement or entertainment. Therefore, horses, mules and donkeys, in which horses are in the foreground are intended not only for riding, but breeding and racing.
Traditionally the first to climb horse was Prophet Ismail. Still others claim that the Arabian horses are the descendants of those of Solomon. It has inherited 1000 horses David. It is said that the tribe Azd time came to Solomon and asked for a gift, he gave them a horse, which they gave the name of Zad al-Rakib, and where come from all Arab horses.
An ancient race who came to prominence with the rise of Islam. They kept pure bred strains of hot desert horses blood for centuries – it is said an Arab can recite the pedigree of his favorite horses dating back to 600 AD The best horses were never sold and never left Saudi. God is said to have created the horse of the south wind, and some Arabian horses bear the mark of an inch of the Prophet on their neck, where Mohammed is believed to have affected
Horse Racing (sibak al-Khayla or al-ijra Khayla) had been a major sport and a pastime in pre-Islamic Arabia. It was part of the riding (furusiyya), considered essential for training military and also as a source of entertainment for people of all walks of life. During the Islamic period the breeding, care and training of Horses became a means of facilitating the continuation of the holy war. The Prophet regarded horse-breeding as a meritorious appeal, and assigned to a share of the booty obtained on the battlefield. This religious sanction fostered a competitive attitude among the farmers and has encouraged the expansion stock, which suffered considerable depletion in the wars of that period. Cavalry was becoming an important factor in military success Muslims.
Kunwar Muhammad Ashraf wrote in the lives and conditions of the people of Hindustan (Karachi, 1978, p. 187) that "Horse racing has been equally popular. It has the additional advantage of the blessing of the Prophet, which has banned more fun and games in non- equivocal, but was lenient to paris on horse racing. A literature soon jumped on the regular study habits, food and food, care and training of horses, which honors scientific methods of the time. It is quite reasonable deduce from these facts that the number of horses pedigree was large enough in the stud of sultans and nobles. Special Arabian horses were imported for the purpose of Racing Yamen, Oman and Fars. Each animal would have cost hundred and four thousand tanka.
It is therefore not surprising that a large literature was created that contained information on hippology, horse breeding, pedigrees of horses and their various categories, on a racecourse, horse racing, shoeing and horseback riding. No other animal mentioned writers of the time such a large number of works literary prose and poetry. Ibn Nadim in his famous catalog of Arabic books, compiled in 377 / 987, Kitab al-Fihrist (tr. by Bayard Dodge, London, 1970, pp. 80-213), mentions the following work on the horse and on issues relating to: Kitab al-Khayla Abu Ubaidah († 210/825), Kitab al-Khayla, Kitab Khalq al-Kitab al-Faras and Wal-Sarj lijam by Asma'a († 213/828), Kitab al-Ahmed bin Hatim Khayla († 231/846), Kitab al-Khalq by Ibrahim al-Faras Zujaj (D. 310/914), Kitab al-Kabir Khayla and Kitab al-Saghir al-Kitab and Khayla Sarj Wal-lijam Ibn Durayd († 321/925), Kitab al-Kitab al-Nasab Khayla and Khayla by Ben Mohammad Ziyad al-Arabi (d. 231/846), Kitab al-Khalq Faras by Abi Thabit, Kitab al-Khalq Khayla by Hisham bin Ibrahim Al-Kirmani, Kitab al-Khalq Faras al-Anbari by Kassim, Kitab al-al Khayla -Sawabik by Khawlani, Kitab al-Khalq by Washsha Faras († 325/930), Kitab al-Khayla by Hisham al-Kalbi († 207/822), Kitab al-Rihan by Khayla Wal-Madain († 215/830), Kitab al-Hala'ib Wal-Rihan Ahmed al-Khazzaz (D. 258/871), Kitab al-Khayla bi Khatt al-Kufi ibn Mohammad ibn Habib, Kitab al-Khalifa Abu Fursan ( † 305/909), Kitab al-Sifat Khayla Wal Ardiya wa wa Asmaiha Mecca MA Walah bin Abu al-Ashath, Kitab al-Akhbar Wa-Faras Ansabuha by Abul Hasan al-Nassaba, Kitab al-Qadi al-Khayla by Ashna ' i Kitab al-Khayla by Attab, Kitab al-Khayla by Utabi (D. 228/843), Kitab al-Kabir al-Khayla Ahmed bin Abi Tahir († 280/894) and al-Kitab al-Faras Jamhara Ansab by Ibn Khurdadhbih († 300/904). Masudi (d. 345/950) in his al-Dhahab Muruj (Paris, 1861, 4:24-5) means a book called al-wal Jala'ib Hala'ib by Issa Lahi'a bin, a work which, he said, included a detailed description of almost every race (Halba) from pre-Islamic and Islamic.
In the Hidayah (2:432), it is said that horses are four kinds: 1) or Birzaun Burzun (a shire horse from foreign countries). 2) Atiq (a horse first blood of Arabia). 3) Hain (a horse half-blood whose mother and father of an Arab foreign), and 4) A horse half-blood whose father is an Arab whose mother is a foreigner).
Maydan Long (racetracks) have been set aside for this purpose in Saudi. According Hilayat fi al-Fursan Shi'ar al-Shujan (Leiden, 1872, p. 142) by Ibn Hudhayl, "Islam prohibits gambling (Maisara), but allowed the placement of your paris on archery (nasal) foot race (Qadam) and horse racing (hafir) "The Egyptian scholar Isa bin Lahiah († 762) is already credited with a book al-Wal Jala'ib Hala'ib in which he mentioned to each race, where horses were used in pre-Islamic and Islamic times. The work of al-Asma'a, Kitab al-Khayla (ed. Haffner, Vienna, 1875) and Kitab al-Sarj Abu Ubaidah are very rich in providing information.
According to al-Fadl Khayla (p.389) by ad-Dimyati (1217-1306), "Contrary to the hadith of the Prophet who has to compete with camels, Horse and arrow (Khuff, hafir, NASL), Some have even glad that the race issues has been authorized for the horses, it was that the ancient Arabs were accustomed. "We can also cite that the ad-Dimyati has to say in Chapter 5 of his al-Fadl Khayla that," Ibn Banin (1181 to 1263) has mentioned in his book that the Messenger of God has run horses with clothes that had come of Yamen as pegs. He gave the winner (Sdbiq) three, the second horse (musalla) two, the horse, third, the fourth horse one dinar, the horse one dhiram fifth, and sixth horse rod (Qasabah). He said: "May God bless you all, the winner (Sdbiq) and loser (fiskil).
Abul Hasan Ahmad bin Yahya bin Jabir al-Baladhuri, Ibn Sad, al-Waqidi, Abd al Muhaymin bin Sahl bin Sad bin Abbas, his father (Mahmoud Abbas), his grandfather (Sahl), who said: "(once) when the Messenger of God ran the horses I rode on his az-Zaribi. He gave me a coat Yamenite. "
He (al-Baladhuri) said: I was informed Muhammad bin Sad Al-Waqidi, Sulayman ibn al-Harith, Az-Zubayr bin al-Mundhir bin Abi Usayd, who said: "Abu-Saidi Usayd have raced the horse Lizaz the Prophet, and he gave a Yemeni garment.
Al-Khuttali in his book a tradition of Ibn Lahiah, Bakr bin Amr Ibrahim bin Muslim, Abu Alqamah, the client of Hashim Banu (indicating) that the Messenger of God had ordered the horses to run, and he put up as prizes for them (sabbaqaha) three bunches of dates of three palm trees. It gave a bouquet to the winner, one for the second horse, and the other for the third horse. They were fresh dates. "(See Fadl al-Khayla by ad-Dimyati)
According to Dar-Qutni (2:552), "Sanjah was another horse of Prophet used to ride on. Once was having a stroke. He won and the Prophet was much delig

How can we pass on the lessons of race relations in the United States?
My young cousin (8 years) is now greater attention the physical differences between racial groups. She often wonder why people are different and what is the significance of these differences. Whereas people today are sick of hearing about race, I wonder how I can teach her about race relations in the light of current attitudes. Should I tell him about the history of racism in America? Should I ignore history and tell him to treat everyone as well? What is the best way to learn to a child about race?
I suggest you read your reviews in simple metaphors she can understand. For example, you can explain difference in color of the skin by the idea that the skin of a human being tends to darken or lighten over several generations as a mechanism defense against the harmful effects and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or as a means to absorb more sun giving life energy. Of course, the question is more complex, but this simple explanation can not give him a mental picture to hang on and let's understand one aspect of the race level of ability.
