The Tradition Behind Charm Bracelets
Although of late the wearing of Charm Bracelets has become another fashion statement, with their popularity heightened by the fashion conscious amongst us, the wearing of charms and amulets has actually been around for many hundreds of years.
Thought to have begun with the Ancient Egyptians, such jewellery was valued not only for its beauty, but also for the protection it provided. Amulets believed to be magical symbols were collected from a very early age and upon death, this jewellery would be buried with them to offer protection in the afterlife.
Unfortunately, charm bracelets today do not offer the promise of such protection, however, the tradition and meaning behind each individual charm still holds huge significance to the wearer. Each charm is representative of memories or major milestones along lifes journey and each charm bracelet is as unique and individual as its wearer.
With the vast variety of sterling silver charms available to us today, we not only have the ability of creating a fashionable piece of jewellery, we also have the ability to create a meaningful keepsake that can be passed down from generation to generation. The value of such a piece not only lies with its intrinsic value but more importantly its sentimental value.

How do I repaint my gold cellphone charm?
About a month ago, someone gave me a cellphone charm from his HK Disneyland trip. It’s gold and the main trinket is in the shape of an anchor with a pink resin Mickey Mouse head, and I treasure this cellphone charm a lot. The gold paint has faded off the chain, and the tag that says HK Disneyland is tarnishing. My mom thinks it’s too tedious to have it gold plated, so I’ll have to stick with DIY. What paint can I use for it?

Go to your local hobby shop, and look for some gold model paint, in either enamel or lacquer (acrylic probably won’t be tough enough). Should work for you.
