Why is everything basically a square when up in the sky looking at the ground?
Whenever I go on an airplane I look at the ground and everything is like a square or rectangle of different colors, like grasses and such. Why is that?
I am guessing you live in America, possibly in the midwest? When the US was colonised by Europeans they divided up the land into plots and fields, and the easiest shape to use was the square or rectangle. It was the same when they planned out new towns and cities, so most cities in the US are based on a grid of rectangles.
If you fly over England you see a fairly random patchwork of fields that has evolved over hundreds of years, and our cities are usually laid out like a wheel with radiating spokes.
