Relax! -Take Seven Easy Steps to help your child in school
One of the biggest challenges facing the world's children occurs during the months of August and September. It is when children make the transition to high school. And not only children who feel the strain. For some parents, it is just as bad – and for many it is even worse!
It follows us in the first step you can take to help you.
Step 1
Relax! Kids really go on the vibrations from their parents. They may be slightly nervous because going to school is a big change in their young lives – but if mom and dad met as concerned … Well, think Junior, I'm missing something here. This must be a problem more serious than I thought!
So make a conscious effort to relax. Your anxiety and worry are a tribute to the fact that you care, but you do not want to make things worse. When you feel nervous, breathe deeply several times, identifying places where the concern is in your body – probably in the stomach – and simmer their way through you. So smile and good humor.
Step 2
Talk with your children and know how much they know about life in high school. In many countries and states he has had a program school induction during the last days of school. Your children may already be quite familiar with the new regime.
Or they may know nothing at all.
The key here is reassuring. If they know what will happen and how they will integrate, then speak. Again, relax and smile. Treat it as an adventure.
If you find that they do know, then make a question: get the school handbook, talk to friends who have "been there" to talk to a teacher from the school. Then discuss the results with your children. (Better not to rely on his own experience of going to school that much may have changed since then!)
Step 3
If your child has to decide which classes to take this plan with them. In some schools, these decisions are not taken immediately if the know. Discuss whether your children have career plans at this stage as this could affect the choices they make and colleges they eventually ask. It is never too early! On the other hand, most children do not have the slightest idea of career this stage, then focus on what really interests them.
Step 4
Investing in a class journal or planner school. Many schools provide them, and they are great for recording hours of courses, dates assignments and tests are due, holidays and so on. Staying organized is essential to success, if the school does not provide a planner Make sure your kids have one.
Step 5
One of the most important changes to your children discover the amount of home study expected of them. This can be intimidating, especially if they have had an easy life up 'til now. Ease the transition by ensuring they have a well lit area well ventilated, quiet study area at home – or even their grandparents if it is more convenient. Ask if the school works a homework club. They are supervised, so that the work is done!
Step 6
To help them settle and to give them an antidote to the plan of study has increased, encourage your children to participate in extra curricular activities offered. It is generally something for all tastes: sports and athletics, dance, drama, chess, music lessons and performance … whatever your children are 'in'.
Step 7
Resist the temptation to think you know everything. If you speak, speak, talk all the time may be missing what could be the biggest problem of all: what your kids are actually thinking and feeling. Encourage to express their concerns, their worries, their aspirations, their queries. To use the old cliche, be there for them!
Transition to secondary school is only the beginning of a new adventure, but it is crucial. Apply these seven steps and you and your children are on the right way. Your children will benefit from the transition and you can relax knowing that you are a parent dedicated, caring and support.
Are there any organizations, whether high school or community, bearing the initials "BK"?
My grandmother died recently, and we went through some of his old things. We found a pair of gold pendants enjeweled with two diamonds and rubies are the initials "BK". We want to discover the origin of these pendants, because no one knew if she belonged to, say, a company or a secret sorority secondary. She graduated high school in the late 1940s, and I suppose that the organization may be gone now. Thank you for any help you may be able to offer you!
