What type of paint should I use to paint the outside frame of my aquarium?

I want to paint the base of oak wood grain and the above framework and below the black glass. Does it matter what kind of paint I use? Should I use a water-based acrylic paint? I will be recording / assembling paper painted on glass, so it should not be painting anything that comes into contact with water. I do not want to make it toxic to my fishies future.

If there are no fish in the tank now, it does not really matter what you use. All modern household paints are non-toxic ones they are completely dry. Normal water based acrylic paint is fine for what you do well. Ian
