C’est La Vie!

Well, for introduction, the usual stuff, I’m a 15 year old girl, who is wacky, looking for a perfect definition of life, not very ambitious but very fickle minded. I love writing, music and I don’t know what I want from life, but….

Anyway, I’m just a regular girl, doing her thing. Well, if I had to explain my life…. My birth would be very melodramatic, my childhood pretty normal. So I was thinking, I should tell you about last night. At least that’s something interesting.

Well, my boards are on and I was trying to study, but the television was tempting me to switch it on, and since it’s so old, I had to respect its decision (hasn’t mama always told you to respect elders?, ya, so I did that!) and at 1:30 am my landline rang, Frantically searching for it so that my parents don’t pick it up. I ran as fast as I could, following the sound. I found it in my grandparents room and before even saying ‘hello’ I put it on call privacy ( I have 2 landlines and if you are talking on one of them and somebody else picks up the other landline they can hear what you are talking so to prevent that – call privacy) and there was my best friend crying on the phone and telling me how her ex boyfriend, who FYI she still loves, has asked another girl out after 10 days of breaking up with her. While she was explaining the story to me in an incoherent manner through her sobs, I was thinking about my potential relationship with my ex boyfriend, THE HEADBOY OF CAMPION ( if he is reading this he surely must be beaming) who became my best friend and now is my secret crush, because I was going to confess that I like him soon, wondering if I, too, would soon be in her place.

I tried my best to console her even though I could not do much. I told her that she absolutely did not deserve a guy like him and she’s worth much more.

Satisfied and depressed after talking to her, I decided to call my secret crush. Luckily he picked up the phone. It was a usual start with the ‘heys’ and ‘wassups’ and ‘nothing much’. After the routine was over, I told him about what happened to my BFF. He was laughing on it, it was very mean of him but …he laughs so cutely!!

Suddenly it struck me that I did not want to land up in my BFF’s place. Because no matter how cutely he laughs, he is bloody capable of doing the same thing to me. Then my secret crush on my ex BF-turned-BFF was crushed.

Since it was already crushed and I did not find his laughing cute anymore, I was gonna tell him that I liked him so I thought – ” shubh kaam mein deri kaisi?”

So I took a deep breathe and told him, ” Rohan I liked you in a boyfriend-ish way but I don’t like you anymore.”

There. I said it. Done and over. Finito

He was then mumbling something to himself which I did not understand (well, to be honest, most of the times I never understand what he says but I pretend like I do)and cut the phone on me.

I tried calling him back but his phone was phone was unavailable.

I was scared. What if our friendship gets ruined? What if everything’s over? I did not want to lose one of my really good friend.

So I tried and tried and tried and tried but he did not pick up. After I was done trying, I called up my other nice guy friend who I usually call when I have no one to talk to. While I was talking to him, I was constantly thinking about Rohan and our friendship. I kept putting Alishaan (my other nice guy friend who I am talking to) on hold and trying Rohan’s cellphone but that guy wont pick up the god damn call! I continued talking half attentively to Alishaan about my BFF’s break up.

After I cut Alishaan’s call, I called Rohan and then finally he picked it up. Yay!

I asked him if things would be cool between us and if things would not get awkward. He told me to go to sleep. I told him that I could not sleep with my friendship on stake, so he told me ” I give you no guarantee about our friendship.”

That was it. I told him that he was pathetic and cut the call on him. God! I felt like killing him. I mean for a second it was perfect but now he was halfway out the door. And no guarantee about our friendship? What the hell was that supposed to mean? He told me all of his problems, he shared his secrets with me and then suddenly no guarantee about our friendship?

I kept on telling myself – ” Sam, don’t cry , don’t cry!”, and then I remembered what I told Nal ( my BFF). I never really follow my own advice, but I was right, I don’t deserve this.

Then I realized that we all don’t deserve heartbreaks, sadness and depression. But the truth is life is a Quid Pro Quo thingy ( BTW my eco teachers would love me for this!) the amount you give, the same amount you gain. It’s basically how to take things.

Like heartbreak. Most of the girls would cry over it, go into depression, think that their life is over , etc etc. But the truth is that it was never like that. We just don’t know what we deserve from what we get. We should work accordingly so that we can get what we deserve and put what we don’t in an incinerator and let it all burn.

Its like work and wages. You work for 8 hours, you deserve a payment of 8 hours but you receive a payment of 6 hours. So what you can do is either fight for it and keep fighting or do it the easy way. Work worth 6 hours. Its all about adaptation with a little bit of common sense which many people in this generation lack. But in the end the choice is yours.

So that was what I decided to do, get what I deserve. I did not deserve crying and depression. So I promised my self, I’m going to press the delete button on Rohan.M.Thomas, Headboy Of Campion. Delete him from my caller list. Delete him from facebook. Pass some rude comments about him. Pray I never bump into him ever in my life. And the most therapeutic method which is frequently used by the female species of the homo sapiens – BITCH.

So I called my BFF and there I took off, abusing him, bitching about him, imagining the most cruelest torture inflicted on him. Call me a sadist , but it feels amazing!

While we both invented our own torture chambers for our ex boyfriends and laugh till we cried, all the depression that we did not deserve, ran out of the exit door of our brain. And there we were, laughing at our ex boyfriends and having a great time.

I learnt a lot of things that night, talking to my BFF till 6:30 am and here it is :

1. Forget about my EX
2. Follow my own advice
3. Get what I deserve
4. Call my BFF more often …..cuz i luv her !!
5. Live life according to the Quid Pro Quo rule, because life’s not tax , life’s what you make it!

That’s how I got what I deserved and discarded what I did not deserve.

The key to it all is just believing that you deserve the best. And differentiate between what you deserve and what you don’t. Use what you deserve and dump the depression because, as Aishwariya Rai Bachchan says in the l’oreal advertisement – ” YOU’RE BLOODY WELL WORTH IT! “
