Bears survive the Titanic

Teddy survived the Titanic! There actually were two teddy bears that survived the Titanic there was support for the man and the other was a child. This just goes to show you that the teddy bears will still be around and that everyone can love a bear.

Believe it or not if everyone is fighting to stay alive and get to a raft a man was separated from her teddy bear. Yes, Gaspare Luigi Gatti was a man not a boy. Mr. Gatti made teddy bear wherever he went, you do not see it on the ship without it. He drowned in 1500 along other travelers.

Before boarding the ship of the little bear has been a journey. He had survived the Blitz, the bombing of his home in London and then, he has done through the Titanic. This little bear has been seen floating in the water and recovery, later she would be given to the widow of Gaspare and would in turn hand it over to a museum.

In 1992 this bear Merrythought recreated in honor the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, it was to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the ship. Only 5,000 of these bears were made, each had yellow mohair and was 8 inches tall.

But Gaspare was not the only one with a teddy bear on the Titanic on that day. A little boy named Douglas who brought her teddy bear, "Polar" and his mom. They all survived the sinking of the ship, but Douglas was dying of a fatal car accident. After the death of his son, Daisy Corning Spedden wrote a picture book, "Polar Bear Book of the Titanic." Daisy never send this book to, Indeed, it was several decades later that his great-nephew found hidden in his attic. The Steiff company would make a reproduction of "Polar" of only 1000 bears. *
