How much should I pay my friend for taking care of our animals while we were on vacation?

My friend took care of our cat and fish for 5 days. She had to come to our home (we live a mile away), feed our cat, clean his little box once or twice, and feed our one fish each time she came.

I’d give her $20 or $25. Although I’d probably go get her a gift certificate to a favorite store and put it inside a thank you card. It shows a little effort and thought on your part which is always nice.
