Bear Aunt

Welcome to the Exchange: A seemingly complicated topic explained in terms of common sense

If you're one of those people who say or think you do not know anything about the stock market – prepare to be surprised.

You say you're not interested in the markets because you're afraid of losing money. You say that only professionals can make money in the markets and you can make money in the award if you have money to invest in the first place. I assure you – nothing is further from the truth.

The fact of the matter is whether you like it or not, you're already a part of the award.

Believe it or not, every time you buy something, say an iPod, you make money for a corporation like Apple. When you buy a box of Kleenex, you make the Company Kimberly-Clark just a little richer. Each When you fly in the transmission of a Corolla, you make money for Toyota (since the owner must get the engine was replaced with permission of Toyota). I can continue, but is there a point?

Now let me ask you: if you want products from a company, why do not buy shares in this company? If you make the company richer by buying their products, why not be part of this company?

This may be because you have never thought that way before or you simply do not know these options are available to you? Or perhaps you do not understand the concept of shares and stock ownership, maybe you do not even know what a stock?

Well it is correct and it is nothing to be embarrassed. It's my job (and that of BigFatMoneybags.com ) To open this world to you and show you the possibilities that exist on the stock market. Now, let's get started!

INTRODUCING STOCK!

The award is quite possible the most magical place in the world to make money, second only to my rope business selling season of suicide. If there is any place on earth where you can take a fairly large initial investment to buy a set pots (or the stove, according floats your boat) and make enough to buy a duplex and a windmill to start – it is the stock market.

Problem is, or people do not understand what the stock market or they do not see the potential in it or they simply think it's all a hoax. The term technique of these types of people are classified under is: stupid.

It seems that people do not understand how you can take a initial investment of $ 5,000 and turn it into $ 10,000 (if you have some decent stock-picking skills) or make $ 1,000 (if you do not) a year later. To understand how this is done, you must understand how the stock market functions – which is what I'm going to do right about … now.

The Exchange explained

You've probably heard the head stupidly ecstatic about the TV screaming "Sell Kids! The Dow dropped 20 points! "Or" praise Jesus! The Nasdaq is up 112 points! Hallelujah! These words were probably not say much for you in the past, but after reading and absorption of knowledge in this article you'll quickly understand what it means to be everything and more intelligent than 99% of Wall Street, congratulations!

Before going to explain what the Dow Jones or the NASDAQ, it will probably help understand what the stock is first:

A stock represents ownership of a company's assets and profits and the inverse its liabilities and losses. Action is how you hold the property of the company. Yes, it is as simple as that.

Buy virtually all (major) stock company. Common examples are Apple (AAPL), Google (GOOG), Best Buy (BBY) and Nike (NKE) and one of stocks found in the Fund Gutman. These little strange abbreviations that look suspiciously like a foreign language is actually the way the stock is classified and is referred to as a "" symbol or ticker symbol.

If you're so confused at this point that you want to hang yourself with the rope you bought me, putting away, I will ease your head spinning with a small example:

The story of the rich

Let's rise to an interesting little company called Mr. MoneyBag rope Sales Emporium (Symbol: RICH). Currently, this company is a private company (ie shares of the company can not be bought and sold in open markets), but to raise the Mr. extra dough MoneyBag decides to make public "which means sharing his company may be bought and sold on the market – this is what is called a Initial Public Offering (IPO).

Mr. moneybags readers over to his investment banker and after many hours of screaming and obscene hand gestures they determine that the company is worth 20 billion dollars. It turns out that Mr. money bags a chimpanzee greedy and decides he wants to sell all of the $ 20 billion and take home the cash for himself – a problem is that few people can afford to go out and spend 20 billion dollars every day (unless of course you are a Gutman). Therefore they must consider that number and cut into small pieces more affordable – known as shares.

Mr. Richard decides he wants everybody and their pet horse to afford the actions of his company, then it sets the price per share to $ 100. Since the company itself is worth 20 billion dollars which means that there are 200 million shares at $ 100 a pop ($ 100 x $ 200 = 20 billion).

In real life, investment banks and anyone who took part in the IPO would take a percentage of these funds, but for simplicity imagine all of these organizations felt Christmas.

The problem is finding a buyer for every little action can take more time than it takes a hundred-and-seven aged lady out of his entry. Therefore there are scholarships – if, instead of going out and ask Aunt Erma to buy shares of your business selling rope, you can refer to an exchange that will electronically connect buyers and sellers without any hassle from you. [Some of the scholarships that you often hear on the news every day: New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), NASDAQ and Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX)]

Buying and selling shares on a stock of values used to make dealers, but now with the advent of this device commonly known as the Internet, Online brokerages are in vogue now. The process of buying and selling shares of a stock takes a few seconds. (More details on this choice and online brokerage later)

And So the company was sold to Mr. MoneyBag gradually in a pretty unusual amount of time (honestly, how can someone not want a piece of a company like that?).

It is important to remember that when a firm sells its soul in an initial public offering, a board of directors is elected by the owners to manage the daily operations of the company. It is also good to know that anyone, literally anyone can trade stock – you only need money, a bank account and being a human being.

And it is the story of how Richard is 20 billion dollars in one day.

How the stock price is determined

So now you know what a stock and the manner in which shares of stock are purchased and sold. What I still do not explain is how you can make an initial investment of several thousands of dollars and turn it into thousands of dollars or losing almost all of it.

The only way you can make money in the markets and take your initial investment and make turn much is the purchase and sale of high low. If you know anything – literally anything – on the stocks, you know that their stock price fluctuates always.

An example of buying high and selling low? You buy a hundred shares of the company at $ 10 per share, which means that your investment Initial is a grand total of $ 1,000 ($ 10 x 100 shares). A year later, each share is worth $ 15, which means you can sell your shares cent to $ 1500 ($ 15 x 100 shares) – a tidy profit of 50%. The question is: why the price of each stock change and how you can use to your advantage?

Reason why stock prices as a kangaroo navigate rabid infected with rabies is due to market forces marvelous known supply and demand. As simply that:

When demand for a stock exceeds the available supply, the price per share of stock will increase. Since all everyone wants a piece of the pie and there's not enough of this delicious pie for everyone, people are willing to pay rises a little more for each piece, so the price per share.

When the offer of shares for a stock is higher than demand (which means it is low demand), the share price of the shares falls. Tell Aunt Erma insecticide accidentally used instead of sugar and the only way people can sell their slices is to reduce the price, so the price per share decreases.

That said, there is also the case of what actually determines the demand for a stock. We know that the supply is determined by the amount of shares available to be bought, but what are the factors underlying the demand?

Reason Main investors are willing to pay more or less for a stock because of what they think the stock is worth. If they believe the stock is worth more than its current price they will pay a higher value for it. On the other hand, if the investor believes the stock is worth less than they sell the stock they own or they are waiting for the stock price to drop so they can buy at a price they deem appropriate.

NEVER combine the stock price of a company with value (how much it really worth – also known as the intrinsic value action).

As I said, you want to buy low and sell high – the only way you'll do this effectively is by purchasing a stock that is worth a dollar fifty, thirty or even ten cents and sell it when it reaches its intrinsic value. Remember, just because a stock is trading to gargantuan levels, does not mean it is actually so valuable.

The problem is to determine to what extent an action is actually worth, where everything is a little tricky. I will not go into too much detail about it in this article as an estimate of stocks is a little more advanced the scope of this article – if you want more hardcore estimate on the stock of skills (you know, the ones that make you any money), then head to my site, you can find a link at the bottom of this article.

Factors affecting the perceived value of a stock

The most common factor affecting the way investors perceive the value of a company by its results. If you do not know what gains are (really?): These are the benefits of a company is (commonly called the "bottom line").

So, if a company does not earn money, it is unlikely to remain in business – and therefore the perceived value of the undertaking.

The investors, and mules inbred Wall Street, earnings reports look like hawks. If a company reports earnings better than expected, they will crammed into society, so the demand increases. If the results are worse than expected, expect the price to fall. And since businesses are required to report their back four times a year (every three months – known as "quarter"), you can bet there will be many opportunities for stocks to swing back and forth like a wild monkey on a swing.

other reasons, the stock price will increase turn around good as new Renovation analyst, management restructuring or due to speculation, such as rumors of a big company to buy your company on.

Over a longer period of time, the price per share of a company will increase as the business grows and becomes more and more efficient (remember, if you have shares in a company, you own a share of profits).

Common reasons a stock will fall in price? The exact opposite of the previous paragraphs: the bad news about the company and analysts damage are some examples of why stocks fluctuate in price.

While learning all this seems confusing to you or you think This information is only available to insiders (company employees), there is a good chance you're poor. The beauty of the scholarship is that is built to be fair to all (or at least is supposed to be), which means that you have access to the same information as an insider. So now you have no more excuses for not being rich, sorry.

The tale of the risks

Course when you invest in the stock market, there is always an element of risk. Again, whenever you engage in an activity there is a certain element risk involved, for example when you are riding your bike to class there is a chance to hit a bump and short, ending up with songs in your head everywhere on the road. There is even a risk when you read a book: sharp corners, the more your eyes can beat a bad trip to the hospital.

Therefore you must wear a helmet when riding a bicycle or film in the foam when you read your books in order to mitigate the risks as far as possible.

Of course, there are many people who choose not to be prepared with a helmet on hand for when they have their lives ahead their eyes flashing as they drop their bike head first concrete idling.

Although a very small portion of people are left with pieces are missing their heads when they go biking, so it would be wise for them not to wear these helmets awkward. Then there are the bikers who bike in the middle the road while cars entering and traffic on koalas. For these types of irresponsible people, a helmet would be a good idea, but many still do not wear one.

This analogy of motorcyclists and the risk is directly applicable to investment. As there are different types of biker there are different types of investors. Some choose to be safe and take precautions to avoid having to sell their organs to pay bills (which equates to wear a helmet while biking) while others are too busy investing recklessly without a smidge of research, and thus eventually fail to notice the wall, they are about to collide in … head first … without a helmet … while cycling and loss all their money. Karma is sweet.

I can continue to talk about bikes, pieces of the head in the ground and throw in a random reference to invest from time to time but I think you get the idea.

There are many investment strategies that will reduce the risk that comes with such an investment that dollar cost averaging, diversification, asset allocation or even invest in mutual funds. Again I do not want to be too technical in this article if you're interested in all investment strategies available to you, then go on my website that is connected to the end of this article.

All you have to remember about stocks and the risk is that the fastest stocks more and more toward those who are the safest. Many people will throw rocks and blocks of man-eating Rottweiler to me that what I just said, but again there is no sense that more people buy something, the better the quality?

There is a reason Apple iPods sold by the pound while its share price rose from $ 2 to $ 200 and why Amazon is considered the closest relative of Jesus – and I dare anyone to tell me these stocks were "at risk". There are thousands of other examples, but I'm too lazy to list them all.

And as for people who say that investing in the stock market is the same as the game? I'm not even going to dignify that with a response.

Even more things to consider

The indices

If you look at the new you always hear screaming hysterically presenters on some strange craft known as "Dow".

When they refer to the "Dow" they refer to the Dow Jones Industrial Average, a stock index. The point of this index is to represent the state of the market stock as a whole, if it does it efficiently or not is a topic for an entirely different article.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is simply the average of thirty "Blue-chip stocks such as IBM, General Motors, McDonald's and Microsoft. These companies are large, bulky, well established and are regarded as representatives rather dandy their sectors.

If the Dow rises in value, it is considered that the economy is doing well, if its value decreases, it is considered that the economy is not doing so well.

Other stock indexes are the S & P500 and the Russell 2000, while the Dow Jones index is the most watched closely.

Dividends

Dividends are a means to a company distributes profits to its shareholders. They take the form of cash, shares or even property. The dividend amount is determined by the board of directors, the most of shares you own, you get more dividends.

In addition, companies with high growth (the kind of companies I like) tend to reinvest their profits to support root growth instead of giving their money to shareholders, this is reflected in the price per share has increased.

Another reason I dislike the dividends due to tax reasons. Remember, you must pay tax on dividends and payment of taxes means you made less money.

Different types of equipment

There also different types of stocks. The ones I always see the "Common Shares" and is the type that most people refer when they talk about stocks.

There are also "preferred shares", as well as the different classes of stock, such as "Class A and Class B. I would tell you more about these types of stocks … but there is no point. Stick to one ordinary share, is where the money is.

Different types of markets

When everything is fine and dandy and stock prices are rising in price so that everyone making money – it is considered a "Bull Market".

When people are storing food reserves, selling their kidneys to black Dealers organ market, bargaining their kids away for pocket change and when prices are falling – it is considered a "Bear Market".

If Now when you hear people using these terms, you will not feel all that more helpless … perhaps even at their level … or better, more powerful … powerful enough to crush their skulls to dust … and conquer the world … with the touch of a finger.

Yes the stock market can do for you.

In Closing

Congratulations, now you know how the market Fellow! With this knowledge alone, you can go out and make higher returns out of the stock of most "professionals" never dreamed do.
