What type of Steiff bear is this?
I recently purchased an old Steiff Bear. If I had to venture a guess he’s from the early 1900′s to the late 20′s. It’s a light golden color, humpback, has moveable arms legs and head, is stuffed with straw and has mohair. The problem is, his little ear button is missing and I have no idea how old he is. Does anyone know a good sight where I can post a picture to have him looked at? Or can give me some ideas as to what they think?
there is a wonderful book on the history of “Steiff-Teddy bears love for a life time” written by the German team Verlag Marianne Cieslik you can order if from www.AbeBooks.com I by all of my reference from them.
You can post a picture and i will be glad to look him up for you if you wish. Zotti was not made until the 1950′s. But they made 1929 Teddy Baby which had an open mouth and closed mouth the open mouth is rarer, 1928 they made Petsy, 1926 Teddy Clown, 1913 Bear Dolly. Durning the war years supplies were short.
Many times i will visit ebay for notices everyday for vintage or antique bears, set the search engine for 6 months and you can watch in that manner as well.
