Hypoallergenic Dogs That Are Hairless
While there are many breeds of hypoallergenic dogs, if you are looking for a dog that is unique, then you may want to research hairless breeds. While many people believe these breeds are made up of small dogs, this is not always the case. Medium sized dogs can also be found. Four types of hairless breeds include: the Mexican Hairless, the American Hairless Terrier, the Chinese Crested, and the Peruvian Hairless. If you are considering buying one of these breeds, you may have to search for a breeder online as these dogs are not as common as other breeds of hypoallergenic dogs.
The Mexican Hairless may be the most difficult hairless breed because there are very few breeders in the United States and in other countries. This breed has a short coat that will not need to be groomed or brushed because it is so short. This means that you will not have to worry about matting, or other issues concerning the care of the coat. The Mexican Hairless is available in different sizes, contrary to popular belief.
The American Hairless Terrier is another breed that is not truly hairless. This breed also has a short coat that does not have to be groomed. Originally, an accident of nature discovered in 1972, breeders successfully reproduced other puppies in 1981 and have been selling them ever since. True to its Terrier roots, the American Hairless Terrier is a small, husky dog that is very friendly and outgoing. These dogs are great for those who are allergic to dogs and who live in small apartments or homes.
The Chinese Crested is an unusual dog because it is available in two distinct varieties. The first variety is truly hairless except for long hair that grows on its paws, head, and tail. Grooming can be done by a professional or at home if you know what you are doing. The second variety called the powder puff and has long, fine hair that resembles human hair. Both varieties are considered to be hypoallergenic because these dogs do not shed too often.
The Peruvian Hairless is truly hairless. This breed is medium in size and is intelligent and friendly to most people. This dog is not for those who have had no prior experience working with dogs. They need to be trained to follow commands and even though they are intelligent and learn quickly, they will not always obey.
Hypoallergenic hairless dogs need exercise, crave attention, and enjoy being with their owners as much as other breeds. You will have to be careful when taking them outdoors because they get sunburnt easily and will require lotion when this happens. Since certain breeds can experience dry skin or acne, you may have to apply skin creams in order to reduce pain or itchiness.
In order to find a breeder, you may have to search online because there are few breeders that breed hairless dogs simply because they are as popular as other breeds. If you can’t decide if a hairless dog is for you, visit those who have a hairless or visit the breeder to learn more.

My Husky dog does not respond well even after being trained?
I have a 2 year old male husky/german sheperd mix dog. He was brought from an animal shelter few months back. Altough he is comfortable in our home and accepts us as part of family, his behaviors are terrible. He often relieves himself on the carpet without giving any kind of signal whatsoever. He is walked a lot but still behaves this way. Several times, when he is being walked (for at least 15 to 20 minute walk) he would not relieve at all, but as soon as he returns home within few minutes he would relieve on the carpet. By doing that he makes us feel as if we wasted our time walking him. We paid a self claimed “dog expert” to train the dog to relieve outdoors but surpirisingly, the husky still relieves indoors. Also, he is very restless and jumps around and runs a lot indoors — he could injure himself or bump into some furniture this way. Please let me know how to deal with this behavioral problem of my dog.
One thing you need to know about a husky is that no matter how well trained they are, if they don’t want to do something then they won’t. It is in their nature, they are very stubborn dogs. You HAVE to establish that you are the alpha as soon as possible, or you will keep having major problems.
First you need to clean your carpet. He can more than likely smell his urine and will continue marking it. Mix 1 part vinegar to two parts water and scrub the carpet. Then place a thick towel over the wet area and place something heavy on it. Let it soak it up for a little while. Next mix 5 teaspoons of dish detergent such as dawn, in 5 cups of water. Scrub the carpet with this and again put towels over the spot to soak it up. This should solve your problem as far as the dog re-marking.
My advice would be to buy a crate if you don’t have one, and crate train him. Most dogs love crates and are quite comfortable in them. They also will not urinate in their crate. He has to know that using the bathroom on the carpet is not acceptable. When he does it say No firmly and take him outside. He’s learned that the carpet is his potty spot and more than likely doesn’t know any better.
Huskies are very active. It sounds like he isn’t getting enough exercise and attention. Huskies love to run and can run for hours. A tired husky is a happy husky. As for running around indoors, they just do that. Mine runs down our hallway and jumps on the bed. He goes back and forth until he wears himself out. It’s just the way they are. They don’t mind bumping into things, it doesn’t really phase them.
Try playing games with him. They are naturally curious and very smart. Play hide and seek. You hide, and see if he can find you. Mine loves doing this. Also buy chew toys for him. A dental rawhide will keep him occupied for a while. Kongs stuffed with peanut butter are also a great toy. They also have toys that you can stuff with treats that the dog has to learn how to get the treats out. These are great also.
If you need further help or explanations, or just have more questions feel free to email me. I’ve seen it all with Sibe’s and would be happy to help you out.
