Bears Cub
Can I have a Brown or a Grizzly Bear cub as a “pet”?

Providing I give it a proper diet, excellent excersize, enough land to carry out his duties and to play etc, and obcourse; love and affection!
I want a Bear because I just love them! They are the most amazing animals in the world! (I won’t go into more detail but if you really did want to know then email me) …and I don’t live in the USA.
I’m talking about; if I raised him from a cub, so that he was used to human contact, but also taught him the ways of a wild bear, like how to hunt for food etc.

I have to say, I don’t think it’s a good idea…
I’m hoping you’re not actually serious. :o .

Do you have a zoology degree?
Would you be able to tame it sufficiently to avoid it killing where-ever it found food or got stressed?
Do you currently own several meadows, a river and a forest?

Remember that taming a wild and dangerous animal doesn’t domesticate it, it just stops it being afraid of humans, which is when it becomes even more dangerous.

You would need all sorts of licences, and I would suggest also the backing of a professional vet and a local zoo, who would have access to medicines, tagging, tranquilisers if necessary…

It is a huge undertaking and not one you seem to have thought out terribly thoroughly – it may not even be legal in your country…

Why not ‘adopt’ a bear instead, make a donation – and help save thousands of these beautiful creatures from painful and inhumane conditions, rather than keeping one as a pet. there are more out there that coudl use that sort of help than need to be made into a plaything because you think they’re nice.

Sorry, didn’t mean to rant! Think about it…
