I have two children and placed them into adoptive homes. What is the best way to tell my dad? They are 8 and 6?
I am 26, I don’t want to go in the reasons, but I was a pretty messed up young adult. I’ve grown up, matured, and want to tell my dad about them. My mother already knows. The problem is my dad is a big teddy bear. He is a strong man, but weak when it comes to his “baby girls”, and I know when I tell him it will hurt, so I am trying to figure out the best way to break it to him.
I really feel for you. You obviously have grown up and done well. It would be best to talk to your father with your mother present. It is going to be hard, he will be mad and hurt at first but you are his baby girl and he will come around eventually. Don’t put it off to long, you need to do this soon.
I am adopted and met my natural Mum. Adoption is difficult and brings up a lot of emotion and pain, but what helped me through the emotional pain was the honesty of both my birth mother and adoptive mother.
