What type of bugs do rainbow lorikeets eat?

I’ve read on many websites that rainbow lorikeets eat bugs among other things. Does anyone know what type of bugs they eat? Also, would they even eat them if they’ve been hand reared? We’ve had our little boy before he had feathers and he’s now 8 months old so I don’t think he would adapt to eating something alive now?

Rainbow lorikeets enjoy eating pollen, nectar, and fruit (apples, berries, and pears are their favorites). They also eat some fruit flavored pellets. They can eat small bugs and grubs, but they don’t need to eat bugs in order to be healthy. I went to The National Aviary in Pittsburgh in May and fed some rainbow lorikeets and asked questions about them. The employee responsible for taking care of the lorikeets at the National Aviary told me that is what they feed the lorikeets.
