Why in the world did my new dentist tell me I had A LOT of cavities and come to find out I only have THREE?
Jeeze, I was actually worried that I had like 15 cavities for some odd reason. /pfft
Just had two filled and they hurt now. Wahhh!
Because honestly, three is a lot. It’s not the “end of the world” as he may have implied, but I’m sure he knows that dental care is directly related to cardiovascular and overall general health care, and if you don’t take better care of your teeth *FAST*, the rest of your body will soon fall into the same deteriorated state.
The plaque that accumulates on your teeth (plaque and digestible sugar are both necessary to create a cavity) is being “flaked off” daily into your bloodstream (as a simplified explanation) this is a primary cause of arterial plaque/cardiovascular disease to develop at a prematurely young age. This plaque also carries bacteria and other damaging sticky cells with it, which can adhere anywhere in your bloodstream and has the potential to cause devastating damage.
Also, cavities are a transmittable disease, which means anyone who eats or drinks after you (or kisses you) will contract the bacterial infection you are harvesting …so technically, it really is a big deal, because it can lead to much bigger, and potentially life threatening, problems not only for you, but for everyone you are really close to.
