How would you react in this situation….How do you think others would react?
Imagine that you are a patient in a mental health clinic. You are sitting in the waiting room. Suddenly, out of the blue, someone dressed as Santa Claus gives you and everyone else a $100 bill (real, not fake). The person dressed in the Santa Claus outfit is covered from head to toe so that you can’t see who he/she is.
Now, imagine another scenario – this time you are a psychologist or psychiatrist. The person who just gave a random donation to all the patients in the waiting room now walks up to you and gives you a $100 bill, saying that it is an anonymous donation to the clinic.
A. How do you think you would react if you are a patient sitting in the waiting room?
B. How would you react if you are a psychiatrist or psychologist?
What would you do, if anything in both scenarios?
(sorry this question is so long….just put the first thought that comes into your head)
A. I will take the $100, and act really nice to Santa Claus, just in that he might give me more money.
B. If I’m in front of patients, I will not take the $100, because that would make me look cheap. I will also inform him/her that he/she is welcome to sit down and wait for an interview.
