Teddies Robin

Premiership Betting Review – 2 April 2006

Manchester United closed the gap on leaders Chelsea to seven points after a hard-fought victory at Bolton. Kevin Davies gave the Trotters the lead after 26 minutes but Louis Saha equalised for the Reds on 33. Ruud van Nistelrooy scored his 150th goal for 9/10 United with 11 minutes remaining.

Birmingham salvaged a precious point at St Andrews against 1/3 (Gamebookers) Chelsea in the biggest coupon buster of the weekend. Hernan Crespo wasted a gilt-edged chance late on and the match finished a 0-0 draw with odds on the stalemate a tasty 4/1.

Robbie Fowler edged ahead of Kenny Dalglish in the all-time Liverpool goalscoring chart as the Reds eased past WBA 2-0 at the Hawthorns. Fowler needed just seven minutes for his record-breaking goal while Djibril Cisse seven minutes before half-time sealed victory for the 4/7 Reds.

Tottenham’s grip on fourth place loosened as they crashed 3-1 at Newcastle. Lee Bowyer put the 13/8 Magpies ahead after two minutes but Robbie Keane levelled matters on 19. Shola Ameobi after 25 minutes and an Alan Shearer penalty on the half hour ended a run of three successive league defeats.

Arsenal closed the gap on fourth placed Tottenham to just two points after giving Aston Villa a footballing lesson at Highbury. Emmanuale Adebayor scored after 19 minutes and Thierry Henry doubled the advantage on 25. Henry netted a second moments after the break while Robin van Persie on 71 and Vassiriki Diaby on 80 made the 3/10 Gunners the safest bet of the afternoon.

Portsmouth gave themselves a fighting chance of survival with a third consecutive win. Gary O’Neill broke the deadlock at Craven Cottage inside a minute but Fulham were level through Steed Malbranque after 10. Pompey went ahead through Lomano LuaLua on 24 and O’Neill’s second ensured an unexpected 31/10 win.

Sunderland survived a stay of execution with a battling 2-2 draw at Goodison Park. Everton went ahead after five minutes through Leon Osman but striker John Stead netted his first goal of the season to equalise on 16. James McFadden put the Toffees back in front 10 minutes later but Rory Delap secured a 7/2 draw 10 minutes from time.

Middlesbrough banished their relegation fears and are 10 points clear of the drop zone after a 1-0 win at Manchester City. Lee Cattermole scored his first senior goal for the club four minutes before half-time to seal an important 11/4 away win.

West Ham striker Teddy Sheringham was denied a late winner on his 40th birthday by an instinctive save by Charlton goalkeeper Thomas Myhre during their 0-0 draw. Sheringham had a late chance to snatch a 11/10 win but was denied by Myhre.

thanks, but could you rate them out of ten too please?
haha, yeah i did notice. only after i wrote them all out though. the thing is they are british names, and most of the harry potter charcters names are very british. this baby will be british too, and after all it will only have one or two of these names so nobody should notice!!!

Fred- 7/10, I prefer this as a nickname for Fredrick. Fredrick i adore, Fred sounds like a nickname for an adult, not a baby, I’d use Freddie as a nickname for a small child. it’s an all round name, very masucline and definately a classic. I think it’s potential is highly under estimated. it’s “doable”.

James-8/10, Very nice favorite. Perfect first or middle name. There is something romantic about the sound of this name to me. I’ve always pictured this name on someone who is very cultured and laid back. it rolls off the tongue very nicely indeed. I do think it’s a bit more popular than other names on your list, but it’s still one of my favs.

Jude- 2/10, I’ve tried so very hard to like this name, but i just can’t. Lately it’s become very popular around here for users to suggest. It reminds me of a couple things….The Beatles, Jude Law, and the word Judge for some odd reason. it’s short and sweet so i can see the appeal as an alternative to the more popular Jack or Jake…but i’m just not feeling it.

John- 8/10, nice masculine name. very classic, yet very popular. I prefer it as a middle name. (it’s part of my middle son’s middle name spelled Jon) it’s a good choice if you’re wanting a well known name that matches just about any first/middle name you can think up.

Robert- 8/10, very masculine again, there is something a bit more rugged about this name than the others. I can picture this on a child (Robbie, or Bobbie) and then on an adult who is very tall and handsome (Rob or Bob).

Dylan-1/10, not a favorite with me. more than likely due to it being used as a girls name here in the States lately, to the point that it’s been completely ruined.

Robin-9/10, i’ve always adored this on boys..but again it’s been used so frequently for girls in the Staes that i’d be worried my son would hate it. course if i lived in the UK i’d not think twice about it.

Charlie- 9/10, i prefer the proper Charles with Charlie as a nickname. this is a family name for me so it means quite a lot. I think it’s a very masculine name and has stood the test of time for centuries. it’s a very well rounded name and would suit any little boy. near to perfect in my book.

William- 10/10, another favorite and family name of mine. this name is just wonderful, and though the common nickname is Billy, and more recently Liam..i prefer Will. It’s masculine, yet darling at the same time. just wonderful.

Arthur-4/10, nice classic name. The history behind this name is most interesting and it’s usage through out history is impressive…yet i just don’t like it as much as i propable should…which i still find odd. i do try to love it, but only manage a ‘ehh..it’s okay’.

Keith-2/10, not a favorite at all. where i am from it’s a bit “hick” sounding. like a good ‘ol boy, that drives a rusty pickup truck and has a dog older than dirt who rides up front hangin his head out the window. lol just not one i like.

Pete-3/10, great nickname for Peter. Peter is a wonderful name I’ve not heard much of and would love to see it more often.

Stuart-3/10, just not my style. i prefer this name as a surname not a proper name. i’ve mostly seen it as Stewart.

Teddy-9/10, fantastic nickname for Theodore. other than that, i’d have a hard time taking a grown man named Teddy seriously.

Jan- 1/10, I don’t much like this on either sex. it’s a bit too Brady Bunch for me.

Thomas-8/10, very nice classic masculine name. I adore the nickname Tommy for a little one, and Tom is a very grown up nickname. Thomas sounds so professional and perfect.

it’s really hard to find people in Baby Names lately that appreciate classic names…somehow they must “always” be related to Harry Potter, Twilight or any other number of pop culture movies, book, and TV shows…as if these names weren’t around BEFORE all that mess. lol
oh well…the “tryndee” people in this section keep us on our toes i suppose.
