What’s best? Play along to a song, and drum over it, or do a drum solo, using various rudiments etc?
mu 9 yr old has a talent contest coming up, and is stuck on what to do…seeing as you only get 3 mins to impress, what would you suggest she does?
Would ‘technique’ be lost on non drummers?
cheers!
why not do both?! start off with a cool song and play along. at a good breaking point, have the music stop and then switch seamlessly into the solo part. it will be sure to please all crowds, especially if you pick a cool, fun, upbeat song that lots of people are familiar with. plus people always love seeing a song ended with an awesome drum solo
