The manufacture of a product Murano follows a cycle of 24 hours work. The mix of materials first is assigned two or three times in the pot initially empty. First load going in about 17 hours at a temperature of 1250 ° C to 1300 ° C. The last 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and then the temperature raised to 1400 ° C to expel any trapped fluid and let the glass become homogeneous. About two o'clock in the molten glass is ready and the temperature is lowered to 1000 ° C to 1100 ° C. At this temperature, the glass, at 7am, have a viscosity required to work. After blowing and manipulation with the iron will take place, thanks to the malleability guaranteed by continual contact with fire.
The glass rod is the starting point for making glass beads. It is done by pulling both ends of the glass bubble of single color, until the diameter of law is achieved. The stem can grow up to 100 meters long, and is then cut into small sections of about one meter each, which are then bound into bundles. The solid glass rod is used for making beads really nice with the flame "technique. In the heat of a flame fusion of glass and creates a thread that is wound around a thin metal rod. In this way, a sort of a glass product that is hot worked and shaped using tweezers or bronze molds to give the handlebar, the desired round shape (, square, star, etc..) Another technique is very important that the application of rod pieces Millefiori to the main nucleus. Also known Millefiori or Mosaic beads as they are produced by application of fine pieces of the stem at the base of hot glass so that all the surface is covered. The bead is then heated a second time while the weld Murrina. The result is that no two pieces are the same Murrina.
