Polar bears in the world
For a short period each year, the Canadian city remote Churchill, Manitoba becomes the capital of the bear polar world. This strange place, buildings accessible by air, sea or rail, with its long main street, low and feel much pioneering becomes the center of attention for bears and visitors.

In October and November, as many as 1200 bears gather here on the frozen tundra, waiting for the sea to freeze so they can wander in search of seals. After fasting for the summer, bears are particularly hungry. Churchill is perched on a strip of land between the western shore of Hudson Bay and the Churchill River for centuries, this peninsula has been the access point is naturally in the bay.
Polar bears have the ability to detect the odor as far as 20 miles. Churchill proved irresistible especially if the big freeze takes some time to arrive. But do not be concerned, the resident Polar Bear wanted to have a tested procedure for treatment without cruelty to stray animals that wander where they are not. This is a rather large trap, dart tranquilizer, a brief stay at the Bear Polar prison, then a helicopter trip over the city and moved to a more appropriate place. This closely followed the procedure works well for the bears and people of the city.
The big advantage of watching polar bears in Churchill is that his adventure comfortable. Instead of camping on an ice field with an Arctic wind howling through your tent, after you've spent a day with the bears simply return to civilization, eat a hearty home cooked meal and sleep in a comfortable bed.
Temperatures can range from less than ten degrees to nine degrees and although it is likely to be snow and possibly rain, there is also a good chance of having clear beautiful days to put sunglasses. Nights especially dark and the lack of artificial lighting outside the city, you can access a TV monitor of the aurora.
Churchill occupies a transition zone where the stunted trees of the taiga foams meet the tundra. Blanketed with snow in winter and by thousands of peatlands and lakes in summer, this land is completely flat until it reaches the sloping banks of the Churchill River and the ridge around Hudson Bay, whose gray quartzite blocks have been rubbed smooth by the action of ice, wind and water.
