how do i care for a swollen eye on a blue belly lizard?

is there a way to take care of my desert lizard (blue belly lizard) eye it has been getting bigger and bigger and i fear i have no money to take him to a vet in this economy im ruining on bear minimum.
can i do my owen treatment and if i can plz help for im doing this without money or at the least amount possible.

Without being able to diagnose the cause (infection/disease/head trauma) treatment would be relatively pointless. You ought to get it checked out by a vet, as there is the possibility it would get worse and worse to the point that it needs its eye surgically removed which is just going to cost you more.

If you really can’t/won’t take it to the vet, you could possibly take some high quality photos of it and send them to a herpetologist or a vet with an open email for an attempt at assessing the cause online.You might also post it on a flickr account or something, many here have connections to vets and herpetologists.

Honestly though, that’s slow unreliable help, you should be able to afford an examination, and treatment will likely be cheap. Time = money (and the health of your pet) though, so don’t just sit on it.
