Which story in the Canterbury Tales would be best for an essay?
I have to do a second year critical analysis essay on one of the Canterbury Tales. I’m not allowed to pick one of the tales that we covered in class (The Knights Tale, The Wife of Bath’s Tale, or the Miller’s Tale). I have to write about what makes it interesting, what conventions it’s using, and how Chaucer has made the conventions his own. Which Tale would be best for this?
I like the Nun’s Priest’s Tale; it appears to very straight forward but really has great sublayers, plus it’s not a tragic tale! And be sure to catch the reference to historic events as well as literary style
